Gender and ethnicity in young women's career decisions, expectations and experiences
PhD Research

About this research
My research centres around how young women view their own gender and ethnicity, and how these social identities shape their career decisions, expectations and experiences. Currently, there is little research which explores young women’s views on how their gender and ethnicity have shaped, and will shape, their working lives, and the impact that these views have on them. I hope to use this research to understand what can be done to better support young women at the early stages of their careers and to develop practical recommendations for higher education institutions and organisations.

This research is being conducted as part of my Doctoral Thesis at Loughborough University.
What will taking part involve?
Taking part will involve one semi-structured interview. The interview will take approximately 60-90 minutes and will take place at a time and location convenient to you.

The interview will involve a discussion about your career aspirations and experiences, as well as how you think your gender and ethnicity might have impacted, or will impact, your working life.

All data collected will be anonymised and any personal information provided will be treated in strict confidence.

Interested in taking part?
I am looking to speak to young women who are UK citizens and who are either in their final year of an undergraduate degree, or are alumnae who are within three years of graduating from Loughborough University.
If you would be happy to speak to me about your plans for your working life and experiences, or would like any more information about the research, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
